It is Sunday afternoon in Santo Domingo and a small Haitian restaurant east of the Dominican capital is overloaded with the Haitian diaspora and their girlfriends from Haiti.

Some Haitian American men with their girlfriends in the island, girlfriends who cannot travel to the United States, the destination now is Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where they can both meet enjoy each other's company before they part ways.

Haiti used to enjoy this US dollar from the poxkets of the Haotian diaspora but now it is the Dominican Republic's tourism industry, Dominican hotels and businesses who is enjoying that money now.

The COVID-19 travel restrictions to the Dominican Republic is almost over. Spirit Airlines has decided to resume flights Santo Domingo and Punta Cana starting July 1st 2020.

After flights were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Spirit Airlines has scheduled four round trip flights to Punta Cana and one flight to Santo Domingo starting July 1st.

Due to major shutdowns and air traffic to a half, the Haitian Airport Authority (AAN) is cutting the salaries of airport employees by a half in order to keep the employees with an income.

HAITI's Port-au-Prince International Airport is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are no activities therefore no money coming in.

Despite this lack of Revenue, aan, the Haitian Airport Authority has decided that employees will be paid for two weeks out of the month in alternate cycles so that at least everybody gets a paycheck.
